Visual Resume

There are pros and cons when discussing just about anything. Today, this post will talk about the pros and cons when it comes to visual resumes. I recently created my own for visual resume and did research on why sometimes they can work and why sometimes they can't work.

The biggest pro to visual resumes is obviously making it stand out from the others. The visual resume can give future employers a clear look at your work history if you pick a nice structure and easy font for them to read. Using graphics in a visual resume can also be very appealing to your future employer, which will make them want to read farther into it.

One con that is most brought up when discussing visual resumes is that people use them to cover up their lack of skills. That could be true, though. Using different graphics and colors could distract a future emlpoyer from looking into your skills. A visual resume does allow you to cover up a lot of that empty space with graphics and other things.

Another pro for a visual resume would be how easy it is to update. Most websites let you save your visual resume, which allows to go back at anytime and make any necessary changes. This is one of the keys for making a visual resume because it's such a convenient tool.

The visual resume also makes it easier for you to provide links. Future employers are just one click away from seeing what you want them to see by posting your links on the visual resume.

Visual resumes are looked at very closely and maybe even more closely than traditional resumes. This is because it is very easy to lie on a visual resume, so future employers will do a major background check to see if everything is true. This wouldn't be an issue if people didn't do such a thing, but it's very easy to see some people doing so.

Those are some of the most important pros and cons to using a visual resume. Here is a link to my visual resume:
